Can you hear me now? Good...

So it's been 3 ear infections in 6 weeks, 3 different antibiotics, diaper rash from antibiotics, dr.'s visits, fevers, co-pays, and sleepless nights. It was time. But that still doesn't make the decision any easier. Van needed tubes put in his ears.

We took him to see Gage's Ear, Nose and Throat doctor, and after a 10 minute visit, he was on the surgery schedule for the next morning. Because he is so young, he was the first one in. We woke up at 5:00 am to get to the surgery center, and after some routine paperwork and the run-down from the nurses for aftercare, they came to get the little guy. Of course, you hardly have time to pace, since he's in and out in less than 7 minutes. The dr. said infection just poured out of his ears, and he was glad he was able to get it done now before the winter colds set it.

Of course, Van is our dream baby, and has hardly had any down time. He's been his happy self ever since, and he seems to be doing just fine. I'd like to know why some kids have a predisposition for getting chronice ear infections, and especially why I have 2, but I'm so grateful for this relatively quick and easy fix. Yay for modern medicine.

The big kids were especially concerned about their little brother, and even tried to talk quietly so as to not hurt his ears. This was pretty short-lived, but everything around here is, and it was the thought that counts.

Here's to an ear infection-free, antibiotic-free, doctor visit -free, no more diaper rash, fever-free and nights filled with sleeping babies Christmas!
