Easter weekend was big for us this year, and when I say weekend, I mean all weekend! Saturday morning we all got up and went down to the neighborhood park for the annual Easter egg hunt. Our HOA did a good job of getting this organized and there were plenty of eggs for everyone - even the toddlers. Livi would get so excited about finding an egg and wanting to show it off, she'd lose sight of trying to get to the next egg. It was a fun morning, topped off with Krispy Kreme donuts and warm hot chocolate at the playground. Does it get any better than that?

And we're off to the next event. Saramarie offered to make yummy crepes for breakfast over at mom and dad's, and since we're not ones to miss a free meal, especially a yummy one, we headed over there. We also had a nice visit with Grandpa Bourne who was in town visiting for the weekend, then back outside for another round of Easter egg hunting. Poppy and Livi hid and hunted eggs all morning, and it never ceased to be a surprise each time she discovered an egg. Poppy made her come into the house for 10 minutes after each hiding session to 'forget' where the eggs were, but her memory is way too good for that! Gage quickly got over his hatred of grass when he discovered there are eggs to be found in the lawn. He crawled all over the lawn yelling "ball ball" at every egg. Uncle Andy gave wheelbarrow rides around the yard until he claimed his arms were going to fall off and it was finally naptime.

Back home to dye easter eggs at our house. This project seems relatively simple, but with a three year old with such creative tendancies, this was a 3 hour project. It required lots of glitter, stickers, crayons, and lots of double dipping eggs until they all seems to be a yucky greenish color. But Livi just kept telling me how beautiful they are!
Finally Easter morning comes and the Easter Bunny brings Easter baskets laden with chocolate up the wazoo, and bubbles, shoes and Enchanted for Livi, and balls and cars and shoes for Gager, and hid yet another round of chocolate eggs around the house. We all put on our new Sunday clothes and off to church we go, all hopped up on sugar.
At one point one of Livi's teachers catches me in the hall and says, "I sure hope we haven emotionally scarred Livi today. We covered the resurrection and she just looked horrified and couldn't believe the terrible things that happened to Jesus." I went and peeked in during sharing time, and she looked pale and her eyes were as big as apples. She came home and told us all about it with a quiver in her little voice. If that lesson doesn't keep her from sinning, I'm not sure what will! Bless her little tender heart - I love kids and their innocence and pure love of Christ.
Back to mom and dad's for Easter lunch, complete with ham and potatoes and all the trimmings. Oh and did I mention another round of Easter egg hunting?!!
We're so glad this holiday only comes around once a year!

Whew, busy weekend with lots of fun! Umm, Dax, where is the green tie?
Super cute!! Why do we torture ourselves around the holidays when our kids are so young and not even going to know the difference?? We are crazy!!
Happy Easter! We missed the neighborhood hunt this year. Your pictures turned out so cute.
Livi is such a doll! What a sweet story about her learning of the The meaning of the holiday. I love her tenderness! My kids still think easter is all about egg wars.
