Spring Break - Boise Style

So the term Spring Break usually invokes images of warm beaches and sun, new pink sunburns as winter white skin meets it's first warm rays, popsicles, and running thru sprinklers.  Well, not in Boise, or at least not for the last couple of years.  Instead you're lucky if you don't get snowed on.

This year was no different.  We  waited and hoped for the rain and wind to let up, just long enough for us to get a just a couple of outings out of the house to relieve our cabin fever.
We saw the weather break for just a few minutes and jumped in the car and made a dash for the nearest park.

Like I said, as you can see from the sky, the weather was sketchy at best.

That didn't stop us from swinging, and swinging, and swinging, swinging, swinging...

In other excitement, Livi lost yet another tooth over the break.  We keep hoping that one of these days one of her top teeth will finally make an exit, so far the bottom teeth seem to have first dibs. Yes, the tooth fairy did make a visit, much to Livi's big surprise.  She was trying to stay awake to catch her!

Finally, on the last day of the week, the sun made its glorious entrance!  So we headed to the zoo, along with the rest of Ada County.  Talk about spring fever!  It was packed, but that didn't stop us from seeing

 monkeys,

and giraffes,

and fake elephants,

and lions, and tigers,

then Van rode a lion and caught a tiger by the tail.

We saw some prairie dogs, up close and personal,

and went down the giraffe slide,

and climbed on the animals.

Livi lounged in a dinosaur egg,

and tried on some big ears for size.

We fed the animals at the petting zoo.  Talk about no fear, Van wouldn't just put the food flat in his hand, he wanted to personally put each piece in their mouth so it wouldn't fall on the ground.  He's so thoughtful that way!

All in all it was a fun day at the zoo, even if some of us are enjoying it more than others.  Another spring break down, next year we hope for warmer weather and beaches.

Cute zoo pics. I'll have to find mine. I have a few identical pics of me in those ears and that egg. It was when I worked at LIFE and we took our kids there sometimes!
