Easter Weekend

 So Livi has been counting down the days for the 'next holiday' which was Easter, for weeks.  She's been planning all the things she wanted from the EB, including a new scooter, Barbie, jump house, etc.  She was pretty sure it worked the same way as Santa, much to her dismay.  I had to explain to her that the EB worked in a different way, and instead of presents you get to do fun activities like Easter egg hunts, coloring eggs, and new dresses to wear to church.  She was a little sad about no new scooter, but was happy about all the other fun things Easter brings. So bring on the activities.

The Hunt 

 This year they divided the egg hunt into divisions, and staggered the time so that parents with more than one kid could watch the other ones find their eggs too.  Van's age group started off first.  There was no need to explain to him what to do.  He was off like a shot, gathering eggs and shoving them in his basket on his way to the next.  We were laughing at how when Gage was this age, he shook every one to make sure he didn't get an empty one.  Van had no time to worry about quality, he was all about quantity! He stayed really focused for awhile, until he spotted the swings and then the gig was up, swinging always wins.

 The big kids were all business.  They ran the fastest, and tripped and threw elbows at the competition to get the very best eggs!  Dad was even enlisted to help take out some of the weak and wounded.

 All in all, it was a profitable hunt.

On to the next favorite... dyeing eggs.  This year the kids did such a great job.  They sat for hours discussing color combos, design and sticker strategy.  They even managed to share the dye and get along for the most part... an Easter miracle.

 As luck would have it, the Easter bunny managed to find our house again, and with bellies full of candy and chocolate we were off to church in our new duds, armed with new coloring books and toys.  Dax was especially disappointed that I didn't buy him a coordinating outfit for family pictures.  Who knew he wanted a matching tie?  I never thought he'd wear it, but next year for sure.

Of course, Mimi fixed a yummy ham and potatoes lunch, and we enjoyed the lazy Sunday sun and hunted more eggs. This spring has been so wet and cold, we can't wait to spend time outside, instead of watching rain stream down the windows.  Here's to a happy Easter, and more sun on the way.
