A Week of Firsts

First day of 1st Grade!
Besides her birthday... and Redfish..., the first day of school has been one of the most anticipated days of the summer.  She's had her outfit picked out for a week, and of course changed her mind 3 times before we actually left for the bus.  She is totally in love with her new teacher, and riding the bus, and eating in the cafeteria and all the recesses.  As we were packing her lunch on the first morning, she says to me, "Mom, like, what does all day school mean? I mean, do I come home for dinner?"  That pretty much sums it up, this girl loves school, and would like to stay til dinner.

Gage is a different story...

First day of Preschool!

Gage talked a big game, but when it came to actually heading down to Mrs. Shannon's, it was ugly.  He whined, and threatened to throw himself out of the wagon, and walk home.  He fussed, and whined some more, but got there and found a tool bench to play with, and that was that.  His face looked like this when we left for school...

but then looked like this when he got home.  He decided preschool rocked!

Van, on the other hand, is loving the few quiet hours he has to himself on preschool mornings.  He takes long liesurely baths and doesn"t have to share a single bath toy.

In other firsts,  Gage learned how to ride Livi's bike without training wheels. He has had long afternoons waiting for Livi to get home from school, so he decided to learn how to ride her bike while she was gone.  Here is a clip of his latest accomplishment.  He called me outside to come see what he could do, and here it is!
Go, go, Gager, go!
